Lesson Five – Travelling Steps

This physical education teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to investigate how to select and combine dance steps to create sequences of movements representing journeys that could be made using a range of special vehicles.
The class can model how to perform dance steps whilst moving in time to the music to show things that could happen on a journey.
Download this teaching pack including a lesson plan, classroom activities and an interactive presentation to investigate how to select and combine dance steps to create sequences of movements representing journeys that could be made using a range of special vehicles
Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to suggest dance movements that can be used to represent different journeys made by vehicles and a set of cards to select the names of vehicles to utilise when developing sequences of dance steps to show what could happen on a journey somewhere.
The interactive presentation can be used to explore how to combine dance steps to create sequences of movements representing different vehicle journeys.
This lesson is part of a physical education scheme of work to get the children to select, refine and perform sequences of dance steps to reflect some of the movements that might be made by vehicles on a range of different journeys. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
