Lesson Two – Seashore Crabs

This music teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to investigate and perform some different ways of playing percussion instruments to represent the movements of crabs across the sand at a seaside location.
The class can practise combining sounds to illustrate how a crab might move over the sand or in the sea that can represented using percussion instruments to model each sound.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe some of the movements of crabs at the seashore and a table display cards to select and list special vocabulary words to describe the movements of crabs at the seashore to represent by creating sounds using percussion instruments.
The interactive presentation can be used to explore and perform some of the different ways of playing percussion instruments to represent movements of crabs.
This lesson is part of a music scheme of work to get the children to compose and perform a range of musical compositions to reflect movements of sea waves and animals that live on a beach and in the sea.
