Unit D – Number Order

This maths scheme of work for Key Stage One gets the children to identify, describe and record the order and sequence of the numbers to ten shown using words and digits and for ordinal numbers. The class can practise using concrete equipment and diagrams to illustrate the order of different sets of numbers to ten.

Lesson One : Classroom Numbers
Count and order different quantities of tools and equipment used in the classroom to ten and record the matching numbers in words and digits

Lesson Two : Match Goals
Identify and match the numbers of goals that have been scored in different football games to ten into order from their lowest to highest values

Lesson Three : Sentence Words
Practise using ordinal numbers to identify and record some of the words that can be found in different sentences in the pages that are part of a topic book

Lesson Four : Number Groups
Practise using concrete objects and pictorial diagrams to build sections of different number lines to ten to use when ordering and comparing the values of the numbers

Lesson Five : Number Places
Play a paired game to identify and record the order and place value of each of the different numbers to ten that have been shown in both words and digits

Identify and model some of the different calculation techniques that can be used when adding pairs of single digit numbers

Practise composing and presenting narrative stories with familiar settings to illustrate the events and experiences that could happen during the summer
