Capacity Fractions

This maths scheme of work for Key Stage One gets the children to identify and record the matching capacities of different sized bottles when using fractions to describe and compare how much liquid each bottle can hold. The class can identify the correct vocabulary words that can be used to describe a bottle’s capacity.

Fruit Drinks
Explain and record how to divide pictures of cup shapes to illustrate their different capacities using a range of matching words to indicate their sizes in fractions

Filling Containers
Practise dividing some different shaped containers and vessels using sets of unit fractions to match a range of vocabulary words to show their capacities

Explore how to identify and compare the capacity of some different sized containers and vessels using unit fractions and matching vocabulary words
