Lesson Six – Holiday Souvenirs

This history teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to explore how to identify and record some of the similarities and differences between seaside holidays in the past using souvenirs purchased by families.
The class can practise completing information tags describing and listing information about a souvenir that a family might have bought at the seaside when on holiday.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe souvenirs that could be bought on a holiday to the seaside, a template to select and record information about a souvenir bought by someone on a seaside holiday and a vocabulary word bank to select and write sentences to describe souvenirs that could be bought on a holiday to the seaside.
The interactive presentation can be used to explore and record the similarities and differences between seaside holidays in the past using souvenirs purchased by families.
This lesson is part of a history scheme of work to get the children to describe and compare how families enjoyed seaside holidays together in the past with similar events and experiences enjoyed by families today. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
