Lesson Six – Northern Ireland and Belfast

This geography teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to investigate and record some of the different holiday events that could be experienced on a family visit to Northern Ireland

The class can select and produce captions for holiday photographs to identify and describe what could be seen and experienced when visiting the city of Belfast as the capital of Northern Ireland.

Activities in this teaching pack include a set of display posters listing some of the different things that could be seen and experienced when visiting Belfast as the capital city of Northern Ireland and a template to compose a caption for a holiday photograph depicting a visit to a location in the UK.

The interactive presentation gets the children to identify the location of the city of Belfast as the capital of Northern Ireland and suggest what makes the location special and distinct from other locations in the UK.

This lesson is part of a geography scheme of work to get the children to Identify the name and location of the four main countries in the UK and describe their matching capital cities  and investigate the seas that surround each country. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
