Holiday Locations

This geography scheme of work for Key Stage One gets the children to identify, describe and compare the physical and political geography of different locations that families could visit on holiday. The class can design posters, compose letters and write recounts to make comparisons between different locations.

Lesson One : Postcards and Souvenirs
Explore how to produce and present postcards that can be to sent to friends describing somewhere special that could be visited on a family holiday

Lesson Two : Seashore Visit
Practise identifying and comparing the matching physical and political features of a seashore location with some other places that can be found in the world

Lesson Three : Town or Countryside
Investigate how to describe and compare some of the physical and political features that can be found in matching urban and rural environments

Lesson Four : Forest or River
Practise designing and building different maps to record some of the special physical and political features that can be found in either a forest or river environment

Lesson Five : Farm or Factory
Practise writing and presenting a diary entry to describe and illustrate some of the different jobs that can be performed in either a farm or factory location

Lesson Six : Family Day Trip
Explore how to describe and compare some different locations that can visited on holiday by recording and compiling lists for special family trips
