Lesson Four – City Jobs

This geography teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to explore how to list and compare some of the different occupations that can be completed and performed in a city location with some other places.

The class can practise composing an advert for a specific type of job that someone can perform somewhere in a city location such as a construction worker or a building caretaker.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe some of the tools and equipment used for different city jobs, a shared reading text to describe the job of a pizza delivery driver and a template to select and record information to use when composing a job advert to match a city location.

The interactive presentation can be used to explore how to list and compare some of the different occupations that can be completed in a city location with some other places.

This lesson is part of a geography scheme of work to get the children to identify, describe and compare some of the different physical and political geographical features of cities with other locations around the world.
