This English scheme of work for Key Stage One gets the children to devise a class information book that uses alphabetical ordering to describe different mini-beasts that might live in the school grounds, identify and spell words with the or and ar phonemes and punctuate lists in sentences using commas.

Investigate how to build and draft an entry for a page in an encyclopaedia that provides facts and information about a specific type of mini-beast living in the school grounds

Lesson Five : Encyclopaedia Entry
Explore and illustrate how to correct and edit an entry for a class encyclopaedia that provides information about a specific type of mini-beast that can be found living in a special habitat
