Lesson Two – Fences, Gates, Walls

This art and design teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to practise some different ways of printing repeating patterns to replicate parts that can be found on a farm such as the fences, gates and walls used to house animals.

The class can explain and test effective techniques that can be used when printing shapes in a repeating pattern to represent farm life.

Download this teaching pack including a lesson plan, classroom activities and an interactive presentation to practise some different ways of printing repeating patterns to replicate parts that can be found on a farm such as the fences, gates and walls used to house animals

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to describe some of the shapes and patterns that can be seen on different objects and a set of cards to select and print examples of repeating shape patterns to match farm fences, gates and walls.

The interactive presentation can be used to explore and model different ways of printing repeating patterns to replicate parts of a farm.

This lesson is part of an art and design scheme of work to get the children to practise and demonstrate different techniques when printing a range of shapes and patterns that can reflect themes and ideas related to farming. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
