Addition Games

This numeracy scheme of work for the Foundation Stage gets the children to identify and model some of the skills and techniques that can be used when adding pairs of numbers by playing different games. The class can practise using concrete equipment to find the matching sums needed to win each game.

Number Pairs Game
Play a range of games to identify and match different pairs of numbers that make matching sums to five, ten and twenty on the game board

Addition Spinning Numbers
Select and record different numbers to five, ten and twenty and identify sums that are one more than each number when playing a math games

Addition Noughts and Crosses
Play games to practise adding one more to different numbers to five, ten and twenty using concrete equipment to model each of the addition calculations needed to win the game

Addition Number Sums
Play a range of maths games to practise counting and adding pairs of different numbers with matching sums to five, ten and twenty

Seaside Subtraction
Calculate and record the difference between pairs of numbers to ten by counting back to show numbers of items sold in a shop at the seaside

Animal Alphabet
Practise finding information in non-fiction books about some of the different animals that live around the world

Spring Farming
Identify and describe some of the changes to farm animals that occur during the spring and jobs performed by the farmer during this season of the year

Identify and count the numbers of different geometric shapes that can be seen in special places, themes and illustrations
