Shirt Shapes

This numeracy teaching pack for the Foundation Stage gets the children to explore how to complete and create sequences containing the same 2D shapes with different sizes when devising patterns for an item of clothing.
The class can select and record a pattern of shapes that can be used to decorate a t-shirt that can be worn for a specific function such as playing a sport or going to a party.
Download this teaching pack including display posters, classroom activities and an interactive presentation to explore how to complete and create sequences containing the same 2D shapes with different sizes when devising patterns for an item of clothing
Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe 2D shapes illustrated with different sizes, a worksheet and cards to complete sequences containing the same 2D shapes with different sizes and a template to select a pattern of shapes to decorate a t-shirt that can be worn for a specific function.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to complete and create sequences containing the same 2D shapes with different sizes.
This lesson is part of a numeracy scheme of work to get the children to identify, describe and compare the sequences of geometric shapes that have been used to create a range of different patterns. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
