Shape Numbers

This numeracy scheme of work for the Foundation Stage gets the children to identify and count the numbers of different geometric shapes that can be seen in special places, themes and illustrations. The class can explain how they were able to identify the counted shapes by their matching individual properties.

Shape Hunt
Practise counting and recording the numbers of different 2D shapes that can be found in a range of special locations around the school building and grounds

Space Shapes
Explore and record how to identify and count the numbers of different 2D shapes that can be seen in objects related to travelling through space

Crown Jewels
Investigate how to identify, count and describe some of the different shapes that have been added as jewels to a royal crown worn by a king or queen

Royal Cakes
Explore how to select and count the numbers of different shapes that can be used on the design for a cake to celebrate a special royal party
