Four Sided Shapes

This numeracy scheme of work for the Foundation Stage gets the children to name, model and classify some example four sided shapes with matching numbers of corners and sides that can be seen and used in different locations. The class can explain how all quadrilaterals have four sides and four corners.

Squares Matching
Practise identifying and describing some different sized square shapes by their matching number of sides and corners

Square Shapes
Investigate how to build, match and record the shape of some different squares that have been modelled using a range of sizes and fraction parts

Rectangle Shapes
Investigate how to build, match and record the shape of some different rectangles that have been modelled using a range of sizes and fraction parts
-
Halving Things
Explain and model how to find and record the halves of some of the different objects that can be used at home and in school
-
School Friends
Identify and learn classroom routines and organisation by exploring and describing information and likes and dislikes for each of their classmates
-
Classroom
Identify the location and function of different objects used in the classroom and explore how to formulate rules to manage the classroom safely
-
Shape Patterns
Identify, describe and compare the sequences of geometric shapes that have been used to create a range of different patterns
