Activities in this teaching pack include a shared reading text to identify and define descriptive vocabulary used in a poem to describe animals, a template to select vocabulary to complete a sentence to describe a farm animal and a worksheet to identify and record some of the objects that begin with different letters of the alphabet.

The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to use vocabulary in a nursery rhyme poem to describe some of the different animals that live on a farm.

This lesson is part of a literacy scheme of work to get the children to identify and describe the sequence of events and characters that feature in a range of different narrative poems with rhymes.
