Unit A – Nursery Rhymes

This literacy scheme of work for the Foundation Stage gets the children to investigate the use of patterned language and rhyming in traditional nursery rhymes and practise segmenting words into individual phonemes. The class can devise short plays to illustrate the sequence of events in nursery rhymes.

Lesson Four : Sing a Song of Sixpence
Investigate and change some of the different word rhymes and special vocabulary words that feature in a traditional nursery rhyme with a narrative story

Lesson Five : Story Telling
Practise using drama and role-play to retell and illustrate some of the different events that occur in a story based on a traditional nursery rhyme poem
