Unit D – Gingerbread Man

This literacy scheme of work for the Foundation Stage gets the children to investigate and describe some of the different characters, settings and plot events that feature in a traditional story and identify final sounds in a range of cvc words. The class can select new characters to explore how they might change the story.

Lesson Two : Story People
Identify and describe some of the other characters that could appear in the traditional story of the Gingerbread Man to match the structure and content of the narrative

Lesson Three : Story Changes
Identify and role-play some of the different changes to the plot and events that might happen in the traditional story of the Gingerbread Man

Lesson Four : Story Puppets
Model how to re-tell part of a traditional story by using puppets to support dialogue of the characters to create different scenes from the narrative sequence of events

Lesson Five : Story Telling
Select, change and perform different parts of the traditional story of the Gingerbread Man adding new characters to the narrative sequence of events
