Water World

This curriculum topic teaching pack for the Foundation Stage gets the children to identify and describe different bodies of water that can be found around the world including the plants and animals that live in each habitat. The class can make models and list features that can seen in different bodies of water.

Identify, name and produce models of some of the different bodies of water that can be found in special locations around the world

Lesson Two : River Journey
Investigate and describe the journey that a river can make through the landscape when passing a range of special locations and habitats

Lesson Three : Ponds
Identify, describe and compare some of the different plants and animals that can be found living in a pond habitat in the local area

Lesson Four : Tadpole to Frog
Explore, describe and record the life cycle of one type of animal that can be found living in a pond habitat to show how it grows and changes over time

Lesson Five : Sea Life
Identify. describe and compare some of the different types of animals that can be found living in the sea to show what makes them special and unique

Lesson Six : Sea Plants
Practise describing, comparing and sorting some different types of seaweed into matching groups for shape, colour and texture

Produce items of clothing to wear on a holiday to a particular location by selecting and using shapes to represent different places

Explain and model how to control the direction and position of a robot when moving about the classroom to perform different functions
