This curriculum topic teaching pack for the Foundation Stage gets the children to investigate and describe different sources and uses of water at home by families to understand its importance in the world. The class can explain what might happen if they did not have any water to use.

Identify, describe and compare different ways to use water at home to wash and clean people and a range of special objects

Lesson Three : Cooking
Explore and devise some of the different ways of using water to prepare a range of foods and drinks at home for family meals and snacks

Lesson Four : Fruit Cocktails
Practise following and sorting a set of instructions about how to use water when making some different drinks at home for members of a family to enjoy

Lesson Five : Gardens
Investigate, describe and record how to use water to grow a range of plants and flowers when working in a family garden

Lesson Six : No Water
Identify and describe some suitable replacements for water that can be used to perform different jobs in a home by a family
