T-shirts

This curriculum topic scheme of work for the Foundation Stage gets the children to select and combine different shapes, colours and patterns that can be used to design and print a t-shirt for a specific function or event. The class can identify and describe the individual properties of each element added to their t-shirt design.

Lesson One : What Clothes
Identify, describe and compare different types of clothing and describe each of their matching functions to suggest when and how they might be worn

Lesson Two : T-shirt Materials
Identify, describe and compare properties of materials that can be used for different items of clothing including t-shirts

Lesson Three : T-shirt Designs
Devise and create a range of t-shirt clothing designs that can be worn for different family occasions and special events

Lesson Four : T-shirt Printing
Explore and test different ways of printing shapes and patterns on fabric to represent occasions and events to use on example t-shirts

Lesson Five : T-shirt Shapes
Investigate and record some of the different shapes that can be used to make pattern designs on clothing to match a special function, occasion or event

Lesson Six : Fashion Parade
Select and design clothing patterns to use on t-shirts matching a range of different family functions, events and occasions

Identify and describe some of the different colours that can be used when buying, preparing and making foods for a range of meals

Identify and record the sequence of the seven days of the week using the correct vocabulary words to describe units of time on a calendar
