Lesson Three – What Foods

This curriculum topic teaching pack for the Foundation Stage gets the children to identify, describe and compare some of the different types of food that might be sold in a a range of aisles in a supermarket.
The class can select and record one specific type of food tin that might be sold in a specific aisle in a supermarket such as tinned carrots and peas.

Activities in this teaching pack include a display poster to identify products that can be sold in different aisles in a supermarket by reading a shopping list, a set of cards to select and sort between different types of foods that can be sold in a supermarket and a template to record the design for a label to match a type of food that can be sold in a supermarket.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to describe and compare different types of food that might be sold in a supermarket.
This lesson is part of a curriculum topic scheme of work to get the children to identify, describe and compare the range of products that can be sold in a supermarket and role-play buying and paying for shopping lists. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
