Lesson Two – Capital Letters

This computing teaching pack for the Foundation Stage gets the children to practise typing capital letters using a computer keyboard to record the names of different classmates to make some personal tray labels.
The class can identify and record which of the letters of the alphabet should be capitalised in a range of different words when producing a selection of special labels.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify different words that should begin with an initial capital letter, a set of cards to group different words that should begin with an initial capital letter and a worksheet to practise changing the correct letters in different names into the matching capitals.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to type capital letters using a computer keyboard to record names of different classmates.
This lesson is part of a computing scheme of work to get the children to practise structuring and formatting different word processed documents to label a range of objects and locations around the classroom. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
