Lesson Five – School Painting

This art and design teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to explore how to create a painting illustrating a view of the school’s landscape based on the artwork style and techniques of of Van Gogh.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe the painting styles of some significant landscape artists and a table display card to explain and model how to produce a painting in the style of Van Gogh using matching colour shades and brush strokes.
The interactive presentation can be used to explore how to create a painting of a view of the school’s landscape based on the artwork style of Van Gogh.
This lesson is part of an art and design scheme of work to get the children to investigate and replicate the work and painting style of a famous artist from the past by producing a matching landscape of the school building. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
