This religious education scheme of work for Key Stage One gets the children to explore and illustrate some of the different stories, beliefs and practices of the Islamic religion including special festivals and sacred texts. The class can identify and describe special festivals observed by Muslims throughout the Islamic year.

Investigate, describe and record some of the special ways that Muslims use mosques to practise and observe beliefs in the Islamic religion

Lesson Four : Ramadan
Practise compiling and presenting a timetable showing how Muslims participate in Ramadan as a special time in the Islamic year

Lesson Five : Islamic Calendar
Explore, describe and sequence each of the main festivals that occur throughout the year in the Islamic religion observed by Muslims

Lesson Six : Special Books
Investigate how to identify and record the function and importance of some of the special books that are used in Islam and by family groups and communities
