Lesson Five – Firework Show

This English teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to practise reviewing and performing poems about Bonfire Night events by adding musical sound effects and illustrations.
The class can identify and model effective voice tones and registers to use when performing their completed poems to an audience to match the actions and sounds that might heard at a family firework party.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify vocabulary that can be used to describe the colours, shapes and sounds of different fireworks and a word bank to select special vocabulary words to use in a poem describing what could be seen and heard at a family firework party.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to review and perform poems about Bonfire Night by adding musical sound effects and illustrations.
This lesson is part of an English scheme of work to get the children to select special vocabulary for sights and sounds to use when composing poems describing different fireworks used by families on Bonfire Night. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
