Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe some of the different sounds that could be heard on board a ship and a set of cards to list and record some of the special sounds that can be heard in different parts of a ship.

The interactive presentation can be used to explore how to compare and describe the musical pitch of different objects that might be used on board a sailing ship.

This lesson is part of a music scheme of work to get the children to select, compose and play some of the different sounds using high and low pitches that can be made by ships and boats when at sea and in harbours. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
