Unit F – Dragons

This English scheme of work for Key Stage One gets the children to select descriptive vocabulary to use when writing poems that play with language to describe different parts of a dragon, explore the meaning of words with tion endings and practise writing extended noun phrases.

Lesson Two : Dragon Poster
Practise selecting and using special vocabulary words to compose and present expanded noun phrases describing some different parts of a dragon

Lesson Three : Dragon Words
Investigate and record how to make collections of some descriptive vocabulary words that can be used to describe different parts of a dragon

Lesson Four : Poetry Writing
Explore how to select and compile some expanded noun phrases to use in a poem with matching alliteration word phrases describing different parts of a dragon

Lesson Five : Poem Changes
Investigate how to review and edit a poem about a dragon selecting more effective descriptive vocabulary words for each part of the creature
