Lesson One – Moon Exploration

This history teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to investigate how to compose and present a speech outlining and explaining some of the main reasons for space exploration that occurred in the past.

Activities in this teaching pack include a shared reading text to identify reasons for space exploration in the 1950s and 1960s, a worksheet to collect facts and information to use in a speech about space travel in the past and a template to write a speech to explain reasons for the technological advancements that lead to the Moon landing.

The interactive presentation can be used to explore how to compose a speech outlining some of the reasons for space exploration in the past.

This lesson is part of a history scheme of work to get the children to explore how the space race in the 1950s and 1960s heralded a number of technological, cultural and political changes and advancements in the world.
