Tennis

This physical education scheme of work for Key Stage Two gets the children to develop and refine skills needed when playing strokes and shots during a game of tennis. The PE lesson plan gets the class to practise performing forehand and backhand strokes and volley shots to utilise when trying to win a game.

Lesson Three : Forehand Strokes
Develop and practise some of the skills that are required when sending a ball across a net using a forehand stroke during a game of tennis

Lesson Four : Backhand Strokes
Develop and practise some of the skills that are required when sending a ball across a net using a backhand stroke during a game of tennis

Lesson Five : Volley Shots
Develop and practise some of the special skills that are needed to control and return a tennis ball across a net when using a volley shot

Lesson Six : Short Tennis
Explain and model how to play a game of short tennis to practise some of the skills that are needed when sending and receiving a ball across a net
