Lesson Two – Racquet Bounces

This physical education teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to practise some of the different ways that can be used to control the movement and position of a ball when using a racquet in a game of tennis.

The class can devise and follow different routes around the playground when bouncing a ball using a tennis racquet so that it can be kept under control.

Activities in this teaching pack include a set of cards to use when practising how to control and bounce a tennis ball using a racquet when moving around some different routes that have been laid out on the playground using cones, chairs and skipping ropes.

The interactive presentation can be used to explore some of the different ways of controlling the movement of a tennis ball using a racquet when it has been bounced.

This lesson is part of a physical education scheme of work to get the children to develop and refine some of the skills that are needed when playing different strokes and shots during a game of tennis. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
