World Explorers

This English scheme of work for Key Stage Two gets the children to practise composing and publishing recounts describing voyages and expeditions to different locations around the world. The class can explain how to use adverbials of time to specify when, how long or how often something happened during their recounts.

Ocean Crossing
Identify and record how to structure and format a fictional recount describing a sailing expedition in a yacht across an ocean in the world

Mountain Expedition
Identify and record how to structure and format a fictional recount describing a climbing expedition to the summit of a high mountain in the world

Dangerous Expeditions
Explain and model how to write a recount of an imagined expedition to a dangerous location in the world using adverbials of time to indicate the timing of events

Explain and model how to round some different numbers to the nearest hundred based on the place values of the digits in each number
