This English scheme of work for Key Stage One gets the children to compose and publish a story about how families might experience and fix problems in their homes, practise spelling words that end in the letter y and sequence sentences to write short narratives.

Play word spelling games to identify and spell different words that end in the letter y that can be used when describing things that can happen in a family

Lesson Two : Family Scenes
Suggest and record some of the different events that might come before and after a range of scenes in a narrative story about things that can happen in a family

Lesson Three : Story Planning
Plan and record the narrative for a composition with a familiar setting to show the sequence of different events that might happen in a story about a family

Lesson Four : Story Writing
Compose and record the sequence of events in the narrative for a story with a familiar setting to show how the characters might fix a problem that could occur in a family

Lesson Five : Story Book
Explain and model how to check and correct written sentences that can be complied into a story book about a problem that could happen for a family to solve
