Lesson Five – Quick and Slow

This curriculum topic teaching pack for the Foundation Stage gets the children to identify, describe and compare ways of travelling to a range of locations in the local and wider community for different purposes.
The class can select and record information about visits that their family could make to different places by using picture clues to show what they can see and do in each location.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to describe and compare pairs of different vehicles that could be used when making a visit to a special place, a set of cards to sort toy vehicles into group to match specific criteria according to their appearance, structure and function and templates to record information about places that could be visited by a family when using different vehicles.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore different ways of travelling to a range of locations for a family visit in the local and wider community.
This lesson is part of a curriculum topic scheme of work to get the children to identify, describe and compare some of the different journeys that could be taken in the local and wider community. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
