Lesson Four – Anatomical Drawings
This art and design teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to select and copy examples of drawings by a significant artist showing different parts of the body using a range of drawing and sketching skills.
The class can model how to use weighted lines and shaded textures to record accurate sketches of a part of the human body replicating the artwork style of a significant artist.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters showing sketches of the human body made by Leonardo da Vinci and some example anatomical drawings and a worksheet to practise drawing techniques when sketching different parts of the body.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore why and how an artist might produce and use an anatomical drawing of the human body.
This lesson is part of a art and design scheme of work to get the children to develop sketching skills and techniques when drawing parts of the human body by investigating drawings and paintings produced by Leonardo da Vinci.
