Activities in this teaching pack include a shared reading text to identify some of the arguments for or against an environmental improvement in the local area to make a road safer and a vocabulary word bank to write a speech to describe an improvement to the local environment to improve safety for pedestrians.

The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to present ideas about changes that could be made to a road close to the school to improve safety.

This lesson is part of a geography scheme of work to get the children to identify, describe and compare some of the different traffic hazards and dangers that can be encountered when making journeys in the local area. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
