This religious education scheme of work for Key Stage Two gets the children to explore some of the different traditions, stories, beliefs and practices that Muslims follow and adopt when practising the Islamic religion. The class can record instructions that Muslims can observe to adhere to the Five Pillars of Islam.

Lesson One : Islamic Map
Identify and record the location of some of the most important places in the Islamic religion that can be found around the world

Lesson Two : Islamic Prophets
Select and record a set of written instructions that Muslims can follow so that they can observe each of the Five Pillars of Islam

Lesson Three : Islamic Worship
Explore and record how and why Muslims use Mosques to follow and practice different aspects of the Islamic religion

Lesson Four : Islamic Festivals
Practise composing a written recount to describe and illustrate how Muslims observe the festival of Ramadan as part of their religion

Lesson Five : Islamic Year
Explain and illustrate how and why Muslims celebrate special times of the year when following and observing beliefs and practices of the Islamic religion

Lesson Six : Islamic Books
Identify, explain and record how Muslims can use special books in their religion to follow and observe the Five Pillars of Islam

Assess abilities in spelling different vocabulary words based on the National Curriculum programmes of study for Key Stage Two

Explain and model some of the informal and formal written calculations skills that can be used to find the difference between pairs of two and three digit numbers
