Unit A – Pirate Ships

This English scheme of work for Key Stage One gets the children to read and follow sets of simple instructions, practise building words by adding the suffix ly to different word roots and write sentences that are commands, questions and statements. Lesson One : Word Sums ly

Lesson Two : Pirate Sentences

Lesson Three : Ship’s Galley
Match and record different types of sentences that might be spoken in the galley on a pirate ship when making food for the captain and crew

Lesson Four : Pirate Treasure
Select and devise a treasure map with matching commands that pirates can use to find treasure that has been hidden on an island

Lesson Five : Pirate Hat
Practise following a set of written instructions to make a type of hat that could be worn by a pirate when working on board a ship
