Lesson One – Shape Co-ordinates

This maths teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to investigate how to identify and record the correct matching co-ordinates of a range of different geometric shapes in the first quadrant.
The class can select and devise co-ordinate puzzles for a partner to solve by identifying shapes that can be drawn by using different groups of matching co-ordinates.
Download this teaching pack including a lesson plan, classroom activities and an interactive presentation to investigate how to identify and record the correct matching co-ordinates of a range of different geometric shapes in the first quadrant
Activities in this teaching pack include a template to identify and record the co-ordinates of different shapes in the first quadrant and a set of differentiated worksheets to devise puzzles to show groups of matching co-ordinates that can be used to build a range of geometric shapes.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore and record the matching co-ordinates of a range of different geometric shapes in the first quadrant.
This lesson is part of a maths scheme of work to get the children to explain and model how to record and change the co-ordinate positions of some different geometric shapes using translation and reflection movements in the first quadrant. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
