Fraction Problems

This maths scheme of work for Key Stage Two gets the children to explain and model how to use division and multiplication calculations to solve a range of word problems to find the fractions of different quantities and numbers. The class can suggest how to use mental and written calculations to find each fraction value.

Farm Fractions
Identify and record how to solve word problems to calculate the amounts of crop quantities grown on a farm by using different fraction calculations

Sport Fractions
Investigate and record how to calculate the fractions of quantities and numbers related to a range of sports using different non-unit fraction values

Cocktail Drinks
Explain and model how to use decimals and common fractions to calculate the matching capacities of different sized cocktail drinks made by using a range of fruits

Explore the spelling and meaning of some different words that are homophones by matching and listing pairs of words with the same pronunciations
