Activities in this teaching pack include a shared reading text to identify reasons for space exploration in the Cold War period using a speech by John F Kennedy and a template to select and record answers to key questions that can be used to investigate the Moon landing in 1969.

The interactive presentation can be used to explore how to present information about some of the significant events in space exploration that occurred in the past.

This lesson is part of a history scheme of work to get the children to explore how the space race in the 1950s and 1960s heralded a number of technological, cultural and political changes and advancements in the world.
