Lesson Three – Rationing

The class can name and describe some of the different meals that families could prepare using the foods that were rationed during this period in British history.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe meals that could be prepared using different food rations during the Second World War and a template to select and record some of the meals that could be made by families in this time period using foods that had been rationed.

The interactive presentation can be used to explore some of the changes to living conditions in Britain that occurred during the Second World War.

This lesson is part of a history scheme of work to get the children to investigate and record the impact of the Second World War on Britain and how the conflict changed family life at this time in world history. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
