Lesson Five – Battle of Marathon

This history teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to investigate and present facts and information about the history and development of the marathon race in the Ancient Greek civilization in the past.

Activities in this teaching pack include a shared reading text to identify and describe the history and development of the marathon race in Ancient Greece, a set of cards to retell the story of the Battle of Marathon from Ancient Greece using drama and role-play and a worksheet to select and record the journey from Marathon to Athens as part of the Persian wars.
