Lesson Three – Pharaoh Tombs

This history teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to investigate, describe and record information about some of the special artefacts that were buried with different Ancient Egyptian pharaohs in the past.
The class can produce and describe a model of an artefact that was used by the Ancient Egyptians when burying a pharaoh such as the Canopic jars inside a pyramid’s tomb.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to describe the beliefs of the Ancient Egyptians reflected in tomb artefacts, a worksheet to follow a set of instructions to produce a model of an Ancient Egyptian artefact and a template to select and record information about an artefact model to illustrate Ancient Egyptian beliefs.
The interactive presentation can be used to explore and record information about some of the artefacts that were buried with Ancient Egyptian pharaohs.
This lesson is part of a history scheme of work to get the children to explore how and why the Ancient Egyptians constructed and used different pyramids and tombs to reflect their beliefs about the afterlife. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
