Lesson Five – King Tutankhamen

This history teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to investigate and present information about the life of an Ancient Egyptian pharaoh by writing and publishing a news report about the discovery of their tomb by historians.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to describe some of the artefacts found in Tutankhamen’s tomb, a shared reading text to describe the discovery of Tutankhamen’s tomb in Egypt and a template to structure and format a news report about the discovery of a tomb in Egypt.

This lesson is part of a history scheme of work to get the children to explore how and why the Ancient Egyptians constructed and used different pyramids and tombs to reflect their beliefs about the afterlife.
