Lesson Six – Bottles and Cans

This geography teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to investigate how to devise and hold a class competition to promote the recycling of different materials in classrooms and offices around the school.
The class can create and perform presentations that can be used to persuade other pupils and teachers in the school to recycle a range of different materials.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify some different statements about recycling materials as true or false and a template to format and structure a class presentation to illustrate the benefits of recycling materials so that they can be reused for another purpose.
The interactive presentation can be used to explore how to devise and hold a class competition to promote the recycling of different materials in the school.
This lesson is part of a geography scheme of work to get the children to research and present some of the benefits and disadvantages that can be produced when recycling different materials at home and in school. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
