Lesson Two – Fault Lines

This geography teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to practise building and labelling a map to indicate and record where some of the major earthquake fault lines can be found around the world.

The class can identify and record the position of different geographical features on a map of the world. such as the equator, lines of latitude and longitude and the Northern and Southern hemispheres.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to describe different features recorded on a map and identify the main tectonic plates that can be found in the world, a template to identify and record the location of the major fault lines in the world on a map and a worksheet to list countries that might be affected by the movement of different tectonic plates in the world.

The interactive presentation can be used to explore how to build a map showing some of the major earthquake fault lines that can be found around the world.

This lesson is part of a geography scheme of work to get the children to investigate and record some of the different causes and effects of earthquakes on locations around the world by making models and writing reports.
