Unit E – Story Snacks

This English scheme of work for Key Stage Two gets the children to design adverts using persuasive language to sell merchandise based on traditional tales, investigate spellings of words with ion endings and link and co-ordinate sentence clauses using conjunctions.

Lesson One : Word Sums
Identify and record changes to the meaning and spelling of words when adding the suffix ion to different roots to use when composing slogans for persuasive adverts

Lesson Two : Sentence Joins
Practise using the conjunctions when and if to link clauses in different sentences about snacks for sale that are based on characters and events in traditional stories

Lesson Three : Snack Questions
Select and record a set of key questions to use when researching and presenting information about some of the favourite food snacks of pupils from different classes in the school

Lesson Four : Snack Survey
Investigate how to conduct and present information from a survey in the school to identify some favourite snacks that could be used as the basis for an advert

Lesson Five : Advert Words
Explore how to record vocabulary words and design ideas that can be used when planning an advert to sell a food snack that is based on a traditional tale
