Unit B – Story Enrichment

This English scheme of work for Key Stage Two gets the children to record ways of enriching a narrative story using descriptive vocabulary in expanded noun phrases based on A Medal for Leroy, Michael Morpurgo. The class can write in the first person as a character from the story to predict how the story might develop.

Lesson Three : Sentence Changes

Practise using adjectives and prepositions to extend different sentences taken from a narrative story to reflect about what happened to the story characters in scenes from an adventure story

Lesson Four : Story Ending

Plan and write an alternative cliff hanger ending to a chapter from a narrative story by a significant author to illustrate how characters might respond to events

Lesson Five : Story Letter

Select and compose a letter to record and describe the thoughts of a character about one of the main events in a narrative adventure story by a significant author
