School Traffic

This English teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to select and compile a list of arguments for and against some of the problems caused by traffic that moves around the school’s neighbourhood.
The class can compose and present magazine articles to suggest why or how traffic close to the school should be controlled and managed to make it safer for pupils and teachers.

Activities in this teaching pack include a shared reading text to identify how to structure and format a text to present viewpoints for or against an issue and template to select and present arguments for or against traffic close to the school being controlled and managed to make it safer for pupils and teachers.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to compose a magazine article presenting arguments for or against traffic being controlled and managed close to the school.
This lesson is part of an English scheme of work to get the children to practise using persuasive language and sentence structures to compose and present requests about different things that could happen in the school. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
