Parties and Celebrations

This English scheme of work for Key Stage Two gets the children to investigate how to compose and present invitations, speeches and toasts to manage and organise a special party or celebration using examples of formal language. The class can model how to convert between informal and formal writing.

Royal Invitation
Practise selecting matching vocabulary words and sentence structures to write formal and informal letters of invitation for a special Royal garden party

Wedding Speeches
Explore how to devise and record example sentences using formal and informal language to use when composing and presenting speeches at a wedding

School Banquet
Practise composing and publishing some example invitations and toasts using formal language to present at a school banquet with a range of special guests
